Air suspension

jacko - 2/7/14 at 06:18 PM

That photo is a load of ball's

MP3C - 2/7/14 at 06:23 PM

My friend linked it to me. I assume it would be a bit of a shock for the MOT guy checking the car

Well it ain't leaking.....

Slimy38 - 2/7/14 at 06:47 PM

I know this might sound daft, but what would that fail on? The damper is still there (assuming that thing to the right of the spring is the damper).

Nickp - 2/7/14 at 06:48 PM

So that's where all Murrays serves ended up today

gremlin1234 - 2/7/14 at 07:56 PM

the performance edition uses squash balls

scudderfish - 2/7/14 at 08:01 PM

If you knew your car was that badly bodged, why would you take it for an MOT?

theprisioner - 2/7/14 at 09:03 PM

Is that not an old caravaners trick to stiffen the rear while towing?

paulix - 2/7/14 at 09:29 PM

as already mentioned.. if that is the damper to the right and the spring isn't broken, i bet this actually works,, as in it would increase the spring rating?? maybe!! and it's a good point saying what would it fail on, i bet the correct stowage of tennis balls isn't covered in the mot manual... if it does work and isn't actually dangerous it's bloody clever, still hilarious though... the ultimate ''that'll do it" engineering solution..

Sam_68 - 2/7/14 at 09:44 PM

Top effort!

All it needs is connecting up to a manifold system that leaks, a pump that overheats as it tries to top up the leaks, and an expensive computer that throws tantrums and goes into limp-home mode for no reason whatsoever and you've got a P38 Range Rover...

Maybe it is a P38, the guy had those problems and thought "balls to it..." then came a flash of inspiration.......

Mr Whippy - 3/7/14 at 11:43 AM

tbh I can't think of a fail point either although it looks totally crazy

CNHSS1 - 3/7/14 at 12:08 PM

MOT failure, car has Tennis elbow...

MikeRJ - 3/7/14 at 01:40 PM

Looks like this isn't a new idea

Police aren't very keen on the idea though

Ah, I saw that one, but that's a full replacement of a spring with tennis balls, rather than simply padding out an existing spring? I am not surprised at all that that one failed!

theprisioner - 3/7/14 at 05:09 PM

See ebay:eBay item number:

380904317348

They have been around for years and perfectly legal. Tennis balls why?
