PPC £999 Challenge at Santa Pod on 29th June 2012!
owelly - 22/6/12 at 02:25 PM

Here's the official blurb:

The Practical Performance Car Magazine £999 Challenge is the antidote to expensive race events.
Just build or buy the quickest, road legalish, car you can for less than a grand and take part in a day of racing at Santa Pod on Friday 29th June.
The Challenge is having a car that’ll go fast & handle well – and for it to owe you less than £999.
Spend your morning on the drag strip, getting your quickest 1/4 mile time, and the afternoon on the PPC handling course.
Already got a car that fits the bill? Great – sign-up today! Go to: http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/999-challenge.html
It’s the driver that enters (not the car) so why not get a bunch of friends to chip in a small amount each and buy something online this weekend? Then compete against each other in the same car to see who’s the best driver on the day!
It’s only £50 to take part (and that gets you two free spectator tickets too). Camping is available.
So are you up for the Challenge? Then come along to Santa Pod on the 29th June and test your mettle. For full details and booking information go to: http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/999-challenge.html

What the above fails to mention, is the partythe night before. Beer, BBQ, more beer and a lot of pi55 taking.
So, you've got less than a week to enter!!

Bugger is I've not got anything to take! The car for the job is needing an engine (anyone got a SAAB B204 or a car containing one they want to sell?) & the van & car are worth somewhat over a grand so I'm out!
The BBQ & beer the night before is worth attending!!

owelly - 22/6/12 at 08:16 PM

Pah! Excuses. I'm sure Jaffa would lend you a go in his car. I'd offer mine but I still don't know if I'll be there yet.

hillbillyracer - 22/6/12 at 08:35 PM

Not sure if I want a go in yours! Always a bit wary of having a blast in other's cars, I might break it!
Will has bigger problems, nowt wrong just an awful lot going on!

owelly - 22/6/12 at 08:58 PM

So? Divorce Will......
Jaffas MGF is immortal. Three of us tried to kill it at Oulton Park but it performed very well.

Also a 21st I'm supposed to be at! I know you've only seen Will & me together but we do have girlfriends! We're in partnership with the Astra but not a civil partnership! If the car was fit I'd fetch it myself.
Dont worry, Will, myself & the Astra will be back!

Cheers for that Mango, it's not out the way at that money but by the time we get there & back the fuel kills it a bit & prefer to deal face to face rather than buy on trust & get it couriered. Really we're hoping for something closer to what our doner car was, lightly bumped 9-3 bought at a salvage auction for £250, by the time we got the bits we didn't want flogged on it'd about paid for itself! Our gearbox has a crunchy syncro & we're using all the SAAB suspension, steering etc so have use for all the bits. We're now realising it was a fair bargain!

Well for those that missed it: yesterday was the day.
Now I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but......
