Something to keep my head from burning!!
stevegough - 10/4/11 at 08:19 PM

Great day out today ( see under 'driving' - just one problem?

How do you keep your head sheltered from the lovely sunshine we've had today?

I've ended up with a red face, a Very Red forehead and a red patch on the top where my hair used to be!! And I've now got a headache, too.

Before you suggest the obvious "get a hat" reply - remember they blow off!

What do you open - top veterans use?

Factor 30! I always keep some in the car

beanie hat or cap attach a bit of fishing line to the cap and tie it to the harness

PS a tomato rubbed on to the sunburn reduces the burning (you have to cut it in half)

every time i go out i look like ive been in spain for a week, factor 30 helps a bit.

I'm follically challenged, so I've got a yachting hat (baseball cap made by Musto, or similar) that has a little strap and a clip at the back - I put on the hat & clip it to my coat collar. Saying that - I usually wear ear protectors when on a run of any distance (to keep wind roar down) so that keeps the hat in place.

I use a baseball cap but with the cunning lanyard looped through the back and hung roung my neck, it does sometimes lift off but is retained and recoverered.
On longer runs I use a crash helmet.
Regards Denis.

JPSC club baseball cap. Lanyard (from a security pass) looped around the harness strap and attached to the back of cap. I also keep sun cream in the car.

Yep! Lots of good ideas here to try out - the weather was very nice, but wasn't even really that hot today!

Crash helmet? WOT? don't be daft, Kipper and Daniel - I haven't built a car with a windscreen to wear a bloomin' helmet (but thanks for the suggestions anyway!)

Likewise wasting a nice ripe juicy tomato on my mush ! Sorry, A30 man!

What's with the gaffer tape? Scuddy? Tape my hair back on

Factor 30 is a definite next time, though!

And what's this 'hair' stuff, Coozer? Smartarrdvark!

How about one of these helmets? All you need then is the wet celery and the egg whisk!

Another great idea! Bandana! I could look like Hulk hogan - get some mirror shades to complete the look

RazMan - 10/4/11 at 10:47 PM

Staple a beanie hat to your ears - painful but effective

norfolkluego - 11/4/11 at 12:14 AM

Bobby Charlton style comb over held in place with Araldite, it's the mans way

loggyboy - 11/4/11 at 12:26 AM

A buff works for me. http://www.buff.eu and look at the original buffs. Available from most good outdoor shops and some cycle shops.

You could try a "cap retainer"

http://www.watersportswarehouse.co.uk/shop/swim-beach/caps-hats-etc/clip-on-cap-retainer-684219.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=Merchant

Not used the company above it was the first hit in Google.

I know lots of people use them to good effect
