Sierra xr4x4 diff, or complete rear beam assembly
keithn1963 - 16/1/18 at 10:11 PM

Hi I’m looking for an xr4x4 Sierra rear diff with lsd for my latest project. I will gladly consider a complete rear beam if anyone has one at a reasonable price as I can use the hubs and drive joints. A cossy diff would do the job also. (not sure if they aren’t the same?)
Thanks.
Keith

4x4 saph and escort cosworth's run the same diff as the xr4x4,but have vented rear discs where as the xr4x4 has solid ones.

Sent you a U2U as I still have a bolt on 7" 3.62 LSD Sierra Diff available, no hubs or drivejoints though.

A. 4x4 no abs have LSD, bolt drive shaft, and drum brakes
B. 4x4 abs have LSD, bolt drive shaft, and disc brakes
C. 4x4 cosie have LSD, bolt drive shaft (possible bigger lobro joints, not sure), have wented disc brakes

cossie 4x4's have 3.62 ratio 7" LSD's with 100mm bolt on CV's (same size CV's as the normal 4x4 sierra), but the hub carriers have longer lugs for the 273mm discs and use the wider vented version of the brake caliper (normal sierra's only have 253mm solid discs on the back)
so the cossie 4x4 (sierra/saf or escort) diff is effectively identical to the V6 XR4x4 one, but the hubs/brakes are different.

2wd sierra/saf cossies have 3.64 ratio 7.5" LSD's with 108mm bolt on CV's - these have there own 108mm hubs etc and use 273mm solid discs with the same caliper as the bog std. sierra

also early Granada 24v cossie's used a 7.5" LSD with the small 100mm CV's - these use the same hubs and brake disc size as the 4x4 cossies (273mm vented) but with a 5x112 P.C.D. for the wheels (rather than 4x108)
later Granada 24v's used the same setup with an open diff - it was replaced with traction control instead - and the last of the scorpio ones used teh more normal 4x108 P.C.D. for the wheels, but none of these had an LSD

its also worth saying that a small number of the XR4x4's ended up with 7.5" diffs too - but this seems to be most common with ones approaching the end of the sierra's production run (I guess they tried to use up what they had...) - they are very rare but have caught a few folk out.

for that matter the age of these cars / parts mean a lot of bit have been swapped around, LSD's removed/swapped, mislabelled/identified etc... - so its best to check the actual parts and not rely on what car it came from or what the tag on the diff says
