RWD Focus !

Nothing to do with me , but just what I'd like to do as my next project, still four days to go and it's already over a grand, and it seems a bit fishy.

Not properly IVA'd I reckon, plus he didn't answer any questions I asked.

If as said in advert if the floors and chassis hasn't been altered then in theory it won't need Iva I guess . I can't really see the point unless you where going to put large hp engine in it or just to be different as the car originally had a great chassis and was a great car to drive I guess it won't be as good now .

Must have had a tunnel added for gearbox,so floors will have been altered.

But pretty sure IVA states 'radically' altered, IMO it's no where near that!

don't bother with the focus.

I would go for the rat rod look pick up truck in the drive

Judging by the other items for sale and the fact he has a recovery truck in the drive I would say he works at / owns a scrapyard

Ford Motorsport USA did actually offer a bolt on RWD conversion for early Focus.

As a Ford fan I have often thought about a RWD Focus. Much like the one for sale.

I really like it!

I can't see how you'd slot a longitudinal engine, g/box and prop into the stock Focus body shell myself. I'd have thought you have to modify...

1. The engine bay to allow for alternative engine mounts.
2. The front bulkhead and floor floor to create space for the g/box.
3. The rear floor to allow space for a diff etc.

I'd be wary of buying this example without first seeing it and asking quite a few questions!

RWD Focus

from the last of your photos it looks as though there's a larger tunnel in there - presumably to accommodate the g/box?

The site seems to suggest this is a bolt in v8 RWD conversion for a focus but when you click through to the guy in the UK who has photos of the conversion being fitted he has cut out the front part of the transmission tunnel to accommodate the gearbox.

Personally I think fitting a live axle to a Focus is a bit daft.

If I chopped out a bit of bulkhead there is no way I would go through the effort of IVA, what's it going to prove apart from the car has no bumps to hurt anyone.

5 linked turreted live axle suited escorts well enough, the Sierra IRS is pretty horrible on its subframe so unless you pick something like a suburu rear IRS it's still quite a good option IMHO.

Yes Nick it has a larger tunnel, i built mine to meet with the MSA regulations for rally cars. My tunnel is actually a lot bigger than i needed but i thought better with too much room than not enough for gearbox etc.

Really nice job Mate, I love it! I'm a massive RWD fan, and would love to do a project like this eventually, which is why I looked at the ebay item originally. Still think it was a bit fishy though, and it disappeared before the auction ended.

Does yours have a live axle set up? Be interesting to see some more pictures :-)

Someone else is now selling the rwd on the Bay with a bit of a price hike.....

Ford Focus ST170 rwd drift track race

Just noticed that the dipstick is now on the inlet side rather than the exhaust side as on standard ST, didn't know you could swap it over?
