How about a "Tools" section ?

I was just thinking that most of us have invested a fair whack in tools specifically for the building of our cars.

Does anyone else think a section on tools would be of interest ?

Things like reviews, availability, bargains and even "Tool pool" posts where people could ask to borrow a specialist tool instead of having to buy one for a 10 min job.

Just an idea

Tony

the trike section was a success at least.

I know the majority of users on here are honest folks but i do think their should be a disclaimer to say that if you borrow a pool tool from another fellow builder you agree that if it is damaged or broken in use/transit you will replace it in an old for new capacity.

Im sure we have all lent somethng to someone in the past to have it A) never returned B) Damaged, or C) returned in a completely buggered state.

Just my 2 peneth but i agree it could be a useful resource to have,

Great idea except....you only need one bummer to let the whole thing collapse (been there before). The problem is that the bummer has what he wanted and the honest guys are left standing out in the rain!
Nevertheless it can help sort out the trash!
Good luck!

tool pool idea sounds good, especially for jigs etc eg window channel bender or wishbone jigs. So how will that work? (on the site I mean - will it be something like the photos section, with a search facility??)
Cheers

no, people should just post up a wanted style advert like bobc has. most genuine people on this site ar known by at least one other so should help to minimise anyone takng the peee.

Sounds like a great idea

I'm sure we've all been caught in that great position of having to spend a fortune to get one small yet very important job done before the next.

I think that sounds like a great idea! having bought my locost from another member up here in sunny scotland and on getting home the clutch died i went into the forum and asked for help, was offered free secondhand clutches, the seller of the locost actually turned up at the house with a new clutch kit and offered to help fit it. now on to why i am telling you all this .... posted on forum asking about a loan of engine hoist and to cut long story short another member is dropping 1 off at my house on friday! so let me say i am wholeheartedly for this sharing of resources and have worked a loan system with friends on the basis of "you bend it you buy it" for a long time.

Kind of longwinded i know but just overwhealmed by the support that exists!

Thanks for listening to my speel!!
