Latest Windows 10 and MS Office updates :-(

If you use Windows 10 the latest 14/04/17 major updates might cause you issues --- so far on different PCs combinations of shutdown problems, wifi drivers not getting recognised and sound card driver problems. --- deep joy.

Shutdown problem seems to clear on cold reboot if you first logout and then force the shutdoen by holding the power button in for several seconds or simply just pull the plug

Windows 10 is a complete disaster. It's ruined so many machines. I'm slowly rolling everything back to windows 7.
Thankfully my main computer is still on windows 7

Except that Microsnot are starting to pull the plug on Windows 7 & 8 security updates (linky) - admittedly this is for the latest processors at the moment, but it'll only be a matter of time now for everyone else.

Funny I get on fine with 10 & 7

I put 10 on laptop when it was free and held onto 7 in PC in case it went tits up. By the time I was satisfied that 10 was OK & reliable the free offer for 10 finished otherwise I'd have it on the laptop.

Are you running non standard configurations perhaps? I only have an i5 but run power and memory hungry programmers like Comsol but not a memory hungry as video editing with no probs.

Never crashes only goes slow when updating but it that annoys you it can be scheduled.

Cheers!

No it's the useless Microsoft Edge and the horrific loading times it suffers on most of our laptops. That basically only run Office and Internet Browsing.

Two of them were fresh installs of 10 and two were updates. Seems to far more haters than happy users. Talk about screwing the pooch Microsoft.

I'm very happy with Windows 10, try using Google Chrome instead of Edge.

I do find problems with Edge, but you can make IE11 your default browser or add Chrome.

As a dedicated Linux user I hate to admit that my one machine with Windows 10 is running OK. My main whinge is the whole philosophy behind it - not just MS but all the other companies who provide software - it's the whole "buy our latest version to get new features!!!" approach that you get all of the time. It seems to be one long game to sell more stuff.

Not to mention the couple of machines that became redundant because a new operating system could no longer run on it (not MS's fault - Intel refused to upgrade their video drivers on an 'old' - just over 3-years-old - machine). Still - Linux Mint installed nicely, and runs very well...
