Fishmouth

Just thought I'd share this with everyone as it may be of use to someone: I wanted to "fishmouth" some of the tubes on my roll cage but didn't want to fork out on an expensive tool and I don't have a printer at home to use the online tube calculators (I could have gone in to work to print it - but it's Christmas and on principal I'm not going to set foot in the office!!)

So! I simply took a block of wood and drilled through it with a hole saw (the same diameter as the cage) then I drilled a second hole at 90 degrees to the first one. If you push the tube into one of the holes - bingo you have a template to draw around!

This has probably been covered before but I never came across this "technique" when I searched

If the tube and a bi-metal saw were a snug fit in the wooden block you might even be able to use it to do the fish-mouthing.
