After taking your advice, I chose not to go for that 'piece of scrap'.
I am currently looking at 2 bikes.

What I will probably do, is strip them down and on sell the parts I dont need, recoup some of the costs.
One of them has a power commander which is nice.
In my situation I will have to make a custom exhaust and connect some kind of power commander unit to it to adjust fuel mapping.

Questions are:
What year should I be looking at?
Any traps for new players I should be aware of?
Anything I should notice?
