NOW ON EBAY: Locost Baseball Caps
imagineer - 17/4/12 at 08:08 PM

Ok, here is the design:

http://www.andrewhills.com/locost/images/locost_cap.jpg

Who wants a cap?

£10 + P&P

All profits go to Chris W for maintaining the LB site (approximately £5 per cap).

I need to have these made to order, minimum of 50 caps per order.

If I get 20 requests and deposits this weekend, I'll get them produced next week.

A few people have mentioned that Caterham may take issue with the use of the inverted 7 (from the Super Seven, etc.).

Accordingly, I've created a new Locost Logo.

Are all interested parties happy with this, for the front of the cap?

[Edited on 18/4/12 by imagineer]

Chippy - 18/4/12 at 03:44 PM

Personaly I prefered the colour scheme of the first one, red, white and black. Can't really see Caterams getting up tight about an inverted seven, as far as I know none of there cars wear that as an emblam, plus there colour scheme is green and yellow if memory serves. Just my feeling of course. Ray

Marcus - 18/4/12 at 05:27 PM

I like the first one too, if you go with design 1, I'll have two

brookie - 18/4/12 at 05:29 PM

i will have one as well

snakebelly - 18/4/12 at 05:49 PM

original design is the one for me

se7ensport - 18/4/12 at 09:07 PM

Oiginal design and I'll take one.

Confused but excited. - 18/4/12 at 09:20 PM

I would argue that it's not an upside down 7 but a stylised L in honour of Colin Chapman and as such does not infringe Caterham's copyright.

You are more likely to get bricked by some culturally deprived yob who thinks you are plod than taken to task by Caterham.

Oh yes and I'll have an original one.

Just four more orders and we have new hats for the summer.

Now we just need details as to how to make payment for the required deposit, etc.

[Edited on 18/4/12 by Confused but excited.]

imagineer - 18/4/12 at 09:37 PM

OK guys - I'll get them produced with the original design, as per the image of the hat at the top of this thread.

Would you like the Locost Builders logo on the hats too?
(Either on the back - or opposite side to the chequers?)
It would probably add £2 to £5 to the cost of each hat - I'll need to check with the supplier.

Just 'putting it out there' at this point, will need to confirm with ChrisW if he is happy for the LB logo to be used.

steveiow - 18/4/12 at 10:02 PM

This is the car I ran until last year:

I dont see anything wrong with the upside down 7, but I suppose Caterham might, but sod them lot.

Count me in for a hat.

Now, what about black beenie hats with the logo........

imagineer - 18/4/12 at 10:10 PM

OK ... who wants beanie hats?

Send me a list of items (hats, shirts, fleeces, umbrellas, etc.) that you'd like with a Locost logo and I'll get some prices together over the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I'll get the baseball caps made.

If all of the interested parties cough up the cash for the hats, then I'll be more inclined to invest my time (FOC) designing other items and getting them produced.

I'm not intending to do any of this for a profit, it'll be my contribution to the Locost family - so I need to see some genuine interest before putting too much time or money into Locost merchandise.

imagineer - 18/4/12 at 10:12 PM

NICE CAR btw - some lovely attention to detail there.

Chippy - 18/4/12 at 10:13 PM

My personal preference stays the same, the first hat looks good, and to add more to it would, I think, spoil it by being too clutered, just keep it as at first. Plus its what people have asked for. Comes down to the old addage "If it aint broke, don't fix it". IMHO Ray

Edit too add, if you want money from us then probably a good idea to say how and where.

[Edited on 18-4-12 by Chippy]

imagineer - 18/4/12 at 10:26 PM

On another note - spotted your tagline.

At some point in the next decade, I'd like to put a small block Ford V8 (302) in Locost.

I'm assuming someone must have done this before - where are they?

imagineer - 19/4/12 at 09:19 AM

Ok people - get your cash out:

Locost Baseball Cap (black with Locost logo and chequered flag design) | eBay

I look ridiculous (more so than usual ) in a baseball cap, but I'd go for a beanie.

imagineer - 19/4/12 at 05:41 PM

But they're for a good cause ... which you're using right this second.

What about buying one as a gift for the wife?

Just think what a caring and thoughtful gesture it would be, stopping her hair getting messed-up while driving topless ...

Xtreme Kermit - 19/4/12 at 08:38 PM

And one ordered for me!

nige - 20/4/12 at 11:30 AM

beanie for me please

imagineer - 20/4/12 at 11:41 AM

Need those baseball caps sold before I have any beanies produced ... it's the summer - you'll need a cap to keep the sun out of your eyes.

Every cap sold brings you one step closer to a beanie ...

imagineer - 25/4/12 at 03:40 PM

The shiny new Locost caps should be arriving next Thursday - will get them in the post on the morning of Saturday 05 May.

Will upload pictures when I have them.

Marcus - 26/4/12 at 06:08 PM

Cool, payment made

imagineer - 1/5/12 at 10:15 AM

The first 25 caps sold cover production costs, the last 25 will all be profit - approx. £250 donated to ChrisW for maintaining this website.
If you're reading this thread and use the great resources provided by this site, the least you can do is buy a cap as a thank you to Chris.

I'll be taking a box-full to Cadwell for the 750mc drivers; buy a cap NOW before they're all gone!

dunk3 - 1/5/12 at 10:24 AM

Are you bringing any to Stoneleigh

pointy - 1/5/12 at 10:28 AM

Have you got that car yet Andrew.

imagineer - 1/5/12 at 11:21 AM

Stoneleigh:
Not sure if I can make it this year; management may not consider it a suitable day-out for our 6 month old daughter. Negotiations will commence this week. To guarantee ownership of a cap ... ebay is the way forward.

Car:
Yes, I bought Paul Bryant's old #11 car from Glenn Boyer. Sweet engine, functional bodywork.
New Kirkey seat to go in, when it stops raining.
Then need to organise my licence (MSA Racing Pack on my desk), book a track day at Snetterton and earn some cash to pay for racing ...

SteveMX5 - 1/5/12 at 02:27 PM

Another one brought and paid for. Just the thing to keep the rain er sun off

brookie - 1/5/12 at 04:31 PM

money sent 19/4/12 but still not got the hat

imagineer - 1/5/12 at 06:03 PM

As per recent posting, the caps should be delivered here from the manufacturer on Thursday (03/05/12); I'll get them in the post on Saturday morning.

The ebay listing states that you may have to wait 3 weeks for delivery; if I could get the hats to you any quicker I would.

Obviously, after all the hats are delivered here on Thursday, any ordered after that will be dispatched within 48 hours.

ChrisL - 1/5/12 at 07:09 PM

And, me, ebayed!
Great idea BTW

main82000 - 1/5/12 at 08:53 PM

just bought and payed for 3 through ebay
omega 24 v6`s order is in with that

cheers

imagineer - 1/5/12 at 10:07 PM

29 caps sold and I'm taking 10 caps to Cadwell for the 750mc drivers.
I'm buying one, leaving only 10 for sale on ebay.

If there is a demand for more caps, I may have another batch of 50 manufactured.

However, when this first batch of caps is sold, I'll be producing 50 Locost beanie hats (as requested), that would need to be sold before I'll consider putting any money into another batch of caps - so I can't promise that there'll be any more Locost caps after this batch.

If you want a cap, I recommend you buy one of the remaining 10 on ebay.

MakeEverything - 1/5/12 at 10:48 PM

Imagineer, i notice youre not a registered trader.....

ETA: But doing a very good job!!

[Edited on 1-5-12 by MakeEverything]

PAUL FISHER - 2/5/12 at 10:30 AM

Ive just ordered one, only 7 left now

hellberg - 2/5/12 at 12:13 PM

5 left, I bought two. Will my wife accept to wear it? I doubt...

imagineer - 4/5/12 at 05:24 PM

I'll take them to the post office in the morning.

Only 5 left on ebay!

imagineer - 7/5/12 at 03:04 PM

The Post Office didn't have the right packaging in stock on Saturday, when I took all of the caps to mail them out.

I've ordered some mailing bags which I hope will be here in the morning, therefore caps should be in the post tomorrow afternoon.

Appreciate everyone's patience ... although maybe I should have had some sou'westers made instead ...

imagineer - 10/5/12 at 04:50 PM

FINALLY!
The mailing bags arrived this morning (so much for next-day-delivery; 4 DAYS!), all caps ordered to date have now been despatched.

I hope you all like them.

(ONLY 4 CAPS LEFT ON EBAY!)

imagineer - 11/5/12 at 12:30 PM

36 caps sold to date.
Minus production and postage costs, the caps have generated £120 to donate to ChrisW towards the maintainance of this site.
I've just sent him the funds.

Now that all production costs are covered, selling the remaining 3 caps on ebay and the 10 I'm taking to Cadwell should allow me to donate another £130 in a few weeks time.

I hope you all like them, and expect the proud owners to take pictures of themselves modelling their lovely new caps and upload them to this thread.

The last five caps from the batch I had made are now on eBay:

NEW! Locost Baseball Cap (black with Locost logo and chequered flag design) | eBay

Grab one before they're gone!

imagineer - 12/6/12 at 11:47 AM

Having already donated £120 to ChrisW, I realised that I'd forgotten to add eBay and PayPal fees to my spreadsheet.

Have now sold another 5 caps, leaving:

2 up for grabs on ebay.
3 going with me to Anglesey Circuit for the 750mc drivers.

Current Numbers (approx.)

44 caps sold: £440
Postage & Packing: £113

Production: £250
eBay fees: £42
PayPal: £26
Postage & Packing Costs: £92
Donation: £120

= £23 in the kitty (to be donated)

imagineer - 14/6/12 at 12:43 PM

Only one cap left on eBay!
