Idle control valves

On removing a throttle control valve, I didn't replace the gasket. Would I be wrong in appling a smeer of copper ease around the gasket on re-application? I torqued the bolts correctly. Also, can WD40 be used as an alternative to carb spray in cleaning out the valve, or may this cause more problems? Thanks guys again. Greg

I wouldnt use grease. Either a very light smear of instant gasket or make a new gasket from gaskt paper.

WD40 won't do anything to clean it out, get some carb cleaner. As above don't use grease, get something like hylomar blue.
