Depends on how much of a gap you have between the scuttle and bonnet etc

I bought the tape that was about 3mm thick. Where I needed it thicker I just taped it to itself - works a treat!

I only used 3mm on the bonnet where it contacts the scuttle and nosecone
Used helicopter tape on the sides to stop the bonnet and side abrading together.
that way no foam to be seen

I used push bike inner tube for nose and scuttle ends, 3 mm foam for engine bay sides
Inner tube looks like new and cleans with a wipe
Foam looks old and pitted, soaks up oil and muck, if I replace it ill use rubber dots

I used Tadpole trim between bonnet and nose cone, 5mm foam along bonnet and chassis, and bonnet to scuttle.
5mm will squash down to 2-3mm easily, and fills gap between bonnet and chassis top.
