Effing Renault
Wifey bought a scenic, for a while it was just crap.
Today I tried to fix a couple of issues (difficulty starting, random check injection messages accompanied by 7000rpm)
now it idles at 3000rpm, which is as far as I can tell related to an air leak after the TB somewhere. but can I find it/fix it?
Can I bollox.
Anyone want a scenic? it's free to a good home, just nick it off my drive. ta.

I used to get the random injection warning on a 53 plate dci. Turned out the fuel pipe was a cheap piece of plastic that had perforated causing air
bubbles in the diesel pre injectors. 50p's worth of fuel pipe and it ran like a good 'un.
Is it any wonder Renaults market share gets smaller and smaller? (Except the track inspire hot hatches of course)

Spray some WD40 or something similar around the area where you think the air leak might be, when you see smoke pouring out of the exhaust you have
found your leak, vacuum will suck WD40 in, burn it and create the resultant smoke.

... the saga continues.
New seals from Renault (35 quid) new sensors/throttle body from scrappy (£40), still behaving strangely, but revving less wildly.
Now thinking there's a leak in the servo, as blocking it off improves matters and stops it revving its tits off on braking.
So that's another £30 and another afternoon of work to look forward to.
Moral of the story, buy something that's not a Renault.

Well, I can understand your frustration - I had a Viva that wouldn't start if it was cloudy , but I've had my Espace for 5 1/4 years and
apart from an exploded shock courtesy of a really shite Scottish A road, I've not had any probs. In fact, if Renault were still importing,
I'd have another just like that.
Have you tried any of the Renault forums - or BT on here?

I've not got around to Renault forums yet, I'm hoping not to own one for long enough to need it, once I've done the servo I'll
have a bash at them.
