7kg Calor bottles ---free !---

As the title really.

Two 7kg empty Calor bottles, caravan size. Seems a shame to just skip them.

Collection preferred from Wirral.

Can't you get some deposit back?

And you might not want to be too public: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2460037/BBC-DIY-programme-shows-renovator-cutting-gas-canister-light-fitting.html

Calor wont give return deposits unless you have a receipt to prove you were the original purchaser.

And within a two or three year time limit of the original reciept. I think there is a sliding scale of refund over three years.

Calor Gas bottles are the property of Calor Gas. Not the renter.

Cutting them up is just plain dangerous.

A lot end up our local re-cycling centre, where they sell them for £3.
I wouldnt just dump them. Re-cycle as a minimum.

So if Calor piped up and stated that they own the cylinders (which they clearly have), then why aren't they taking responsibility (or made to) for the cylinders that are dumped all over the UK because the 3 year deposit period has expired when the bottles are finally empty?

Surely there is a degree of corporate responsibility and environmental management required by Calor to prevent these cylinders being used in this way - ie. extending the refund period or providing a mechanism for them to be returned safely and recycled?

Same. Remove the valve, fill with water and then cut. The water pushes any residue out.

I've got two cylinders already with no valves that have been outside purging for six months now
waiting to be made into log burners. Inspired by the Hotpod, just not got round to it yet so don't
need any more.

If anyone wants one of the smaller blue ones to make a garage log burner out of I know where there's one sat in a ditch 4 miles east of Reading - I almost stopped to get it myself but I already have two :-)
