Ford Wheel Stud Suppliers

Hi All

I'm trying to find some longer rear wheel studs for my Striker. I need 47mm length .

It's an Escort axle with metric studs.

It seems like I have a smaller than normal spline diameter of 12.7mm, not the normal 13.1 mm (I have a set of 13.1mm but they will not fit!)

All the usual suppliers (Rally Design etc) only seem to stock the 13.1mm

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance

Wyn

Midland wheels are pretty good. They list 3/8 UNF studs as well as metric. They may be able to help.

Think rally Design do them as well.

I'm guessing that drilling things out a bit bigger isn't an option?

Thanks guys - I'll try phoning around today as I couldn't find anything on the web sites.

- That may be an option if I can't find the right sized spline - drill out and weld the the back of the stud.

Feels too obvious but when I did this I went to my local Ford dealer with an old stud.

They were really helpful and interested and the price was very reasonable.

Thanks Steve - those are 13.1mm spline ones so no good for me unfortunately.

Looks like I'll be drilling out the hubs!

I used transit van studs. Don't know what the diameter was i'm afraid but worth a try at the local ford dealer.

Mine came from mk5 escort van front hubs, it was in about 2005 when there were still escorts in scrapyards!
They were about 12mm longer than the standard mk2 studs, long enough to fit discs.
I have some from focus rear studs at work, i'll have a look at the dimensions & let you know if they match.

Mtec or Speedshack will have what you need.

The focus mk2 rear hub studs are 42mm from stud flange to end of thread, 46.5mm total length, 12.9mm at splined section, and 12.5mm at unsplined area under thread.
IIRC these came from a drum brake model, they may be slightly longer with disc brakes.
They come free with a worn out rear wheel bearing, as the replacement is a complete hub assembly, so ask around some ford mechanics.
I have also just noticed that they will replace trailer studs from old 5 stud a60 pattern hubs, which i have been looking for for a while to fix up an old trailer.

Did you manage to find some in the end Wyn? I've removed a stud from my english axle this evening and the splines are 12.7mm. I've found a couple of rally places that list them but one doesn't have enough stock and the other the postage from Ireland is showing as a silly amount.
