How many miles?

Last Year I put on some

Toyo Proxes R1R 195/50 R15

Onto the xtreme.

I've done about 3 and a half thousand miles since.

The fronts look almost new,

The rear nearside is down to 3-4mm whilst the rear offside is almost finished!

I don't squeel away, but it is a v8 and I spose I don't hang about either. All road use.

Is this expected mileage for such a tyre on a kit? Interested to hear others experiences.

Cheers Chris

I would say not.

I would also say that unless your tracking and geo are out, you like right handers!!

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

It has been centre weighted before, but not with me, also the lower wishbone bolt I have just found is rusted onto the bush which has had some play in it probably the whole time, might explain the more wear on the outside of the used tyre.

How many miles would sound more sensible?

A very open question that depends on type of use.

I would expect, due to car weight, that any commonly available tyre should last longer on a 7 then a tin top. So soft rubbers not included.

Open diff?

I would guess the torque of the V8 is causing you to wheelspin more than you realise pulling away etc

So may variables but 5-6k rear fronts maybe double ? Would be about right ?

OK, it isn't a LSD, so I think therefore it is open!

Also I reckon R1R tyres a probably classed as soft.

I have really liked them and yep maybe they have just been doing their job and gripping.

My googling suggests that it isn't unreasonable to have used them up this quickly!

Most likely a geometry issue if you're getting edge wear. I suspect toe in, or the dead bush giving variable geometry.

I'm hoping the bush as the quantum xtreme setup is fixed!

drivers side definitely more all over, but I guess I have been sat over it, along with the heaviest part of luggage - extra 15l fuel in the boot, whilst the passenger side has had less.

I'd say having worn on that much more than the others that the open diff is causing more slip on that one, combined with the worn bush. Though getting that sort of wear on the rest, just means you're generally not trying hard enough

From memory I think the R1R is the same (or similar) compound as r888in GG (medium) compound. I get 5-6000miles out of a set of a set of those. Mix of road and track. Slightly more wear on the rear than front... mystery to me why that might be I have taken a set down to the wear markers in 3000mile on my first euro tour but found the wear rate has reduced as I've got better at driving it; I was having to nail the braking and acceleration to keep up but now carry more speed through the corners.
