So i've just acquired a part built Haynes MX5 based kit.
It's missing a steering rack mount bush. I bought MX5 bushes thinking it was from that donor, but neither manual or PAS versions fit. The build
manual talks about sierra but it doesn't look like that after a brief search. Can anyone assist ?

Hard to tell from those pics- but I understood that the majority of Haynes use a Ford Escort MK2 rack (still readily available due to use in a
variety of places - including Escorts still being used widely in rallying in the UK) regardless of what other donor is used (Sierra/MX5 or something
else).
In fact the Chris Gibbs/Haynes "Build Your Own Sports Car" book refers to Mk2 Escort rack on page 29 (where it lists all the parts you need
from the donor and elsewhere) - with a really good picture of one mounted in the chassis - so might help ID yours.

It does look very similar to my old Mk2 escort one,
And I do believe most of the Ford racks were very similar to each other, just different lengths

bottom one looks familiar, different mounts each side.
how quick is quick ?
Cortina rack was 3.66 turns lock to lock with 5.5" of lateral movement. New one is 2.47 with 5.2" lateral.
