I know this isnt a kit car but you guys seem to know alot, my classic mini has stripped the thread out of the sump plug, what i am left with is 3
complete threads intact deeper than the bolt goes. I need to repair it obviously but am I a situation that I don't need to be able to change the
oil again as the gearbox will be changed next year anyway so I need a stop gap measure. My idea is to buy a longer bolt so I can engage the 3
surviving threads plus a dowty seal under the bolt head. What I need to know is, what is the best sealer to use in this situation?

I could be wrong, but from memory when I had a mini, a spark plug fitted the thread ?
but ive had many may cars, and a spark plug certainly fitted one of them !!
I should have said, the thread is 5/8 unc

minispares (and others) do a longer sump plug

Mini spares do a repair plug that self cuts new a thread for about a tenner, far safer than relying on just 3 threads and not that much more than a longer bung
Just buy a thread repair kit off eBay
Just bought a helicoil kit, I've got a few minis, no doubt it will be used again
