removing reverse gear

i want to remove my electric reverse from my vortx
when i remove the cog from the rear diff is there a spacer avaible to replace it?

Does it need one?
I would have thought that the sliding joint would have enough spare to take it up?

I took mine off a week after iva and not missed it once, just always think when pulling up or parking hills etc .. And they sound awfull , id rather push it back.
