Quickshifters?

Hi all, can anyone give me any recommendations on a quickshifters, I am looking into fitting one to my R1-5pw engined MNR?

I know there is one available that plugs straight in to the power commander and have recently been made aware of the race gadgets one that is a similar price (but requires a bit of wiring in I believe?). I have also seen the flatshifter ones that are way more expensive.

Are there any others that I should be looking into? Also does anyone have any experience of the three I mentioned above with my engine?

Are the flatshifters really that much better than say the dynojet one and are they worth the extra money?

ive got the race gadgets one.great bit of kit easy to install works great and good value for money

You can do it the super budget way If you have a power commander. Just need a micro switch, a bit of wire, a bit of metal to make a mounting bracket, and some trial and error in adjusting the switch position. You will also need to flash the quick shift upgrade onto the power commander, but you can find that on the internet without too much trouble.

I can always post some pictures of mine if you are interested.

Ok, i've managed to get some pictures tonight of what i have done.

I fitted a slightly over long bolt through the gear lever arm on the engine end so it will press against the switch.
A bracket was made with a slotted fitting so that it can be adjusted back and forth.
The switch is bolted to the bracket so that it was in a position to be pressed by the over long bolt
Connect a length of wire to the switch, and then back to the power commander into the correct pins
Update the power commander with the quickshift software - you can find it online if you look in the right places
Take it for a run to test that it works
Adjust the location of the switch until it works at the right time

Everything else i had kicking around in the garage:
Wire
Power commander plug: came supplied with power commander fitted with 9v battery connecter ( just remove the existing wires)
M5 Rivnuts to fit into chassis
M5 bolts for fitting bracket to chassis. M3 bolts for fitting switch to bracket
Bracket made from aluminium angle

Fyi-
I'd strongly suggest that you review the benefits of the Flatshifter.
Proven reliability
Up and downshift functions
Excellent technical support

A lot of motorcycle racers here in the USA remove the power commanders because of thir failure rate.

when i eventually get round to getting one, its going tobe a flatshifter.I have done some reserch and havent heard anything bad yet.i know there not cheap but with some things you get what you pay for
