My sincere condolences

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Yes we lost our Mum a few years ago from fast acting dementia. Twelve weeks from looking after herself to passing away. Horrible to see. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear that jacko
I lost mine 20 years ago, I wasn't there when she died, that still weighs heavily.

I am sorry to hear that and hope you were able to spend time with her in the last weeks/months.

It's horrible to lose someone very close but it makes you realise how precious our families are.

Sorry to hear that, thankfully i've had no direct experience of dementia in my family to date, for which I am extremely grateful.

When my grandmother died (with whom my father had had a fractious relationship) he cried as we came out of the church after the funeral. I said "I am sorry" to him, he said "I'm crying for the relationship we never had". That made me think (and has ever since - it was 14 years ago), I can tell you.

Not really mate, I feel your pain, my Dad's got terminal cancer, he's only got a few months, so spending alot of my time with him and my Mum, but life must go on, although it's very hard.
It's no fun getting older, seeing your loved one's in pain😢

My sympathies mate. Having seen my Mom go from a strong independent woman (who had been everything from a farmer, diamond prospector, hunter, fisherman and someone who could put a spanner to anything and never allowed her gender to limit her activities and yet was always a loving mother and wife and real lady) to a helpless, paranoid stranger who didn't recognise us, was very very hard indeed.

She was also the best driver around - everybody who spent any time in a car with her driving would comment on how well she drove - very fast but always safe and fully in control.
