Starter motor. Please help

Hi. I am at my wits end. I have a silver top 2.0 zetec married to a type 9 it is in a 1969 midget. Fits well but am having a nightmare with getting a starter to work. The starter is on the inlet side ie. The right hand side
The flywheel is the normal type not dual mass. Any ideas on where e I can go for a starter
I have another one from race line which is wrong. They have been very helpful but no joy yet. Please help. Mark Brien

When you say you are having a nightmare getting it to work what do you mean? What happens when you turn the key?

This is the problem that I am having. With the cvh starter the solonoid will be at the bottom if your fit it to the inlet side ie upside down
The solonoid will not fit between the engine and the chassis leg. I need a starter the opposite hand

I think you need something like an LRS653.

I have a 111269 starter which is out of a 2.0i Sierra 1987 - 1983.
The set up is fine but it grinds on start or simply binds and locks out making a shocking noise, clearly it does not mesh well, looking at the spec,( i am not knowledable on this) it says that it has a 88.5 mm flange which is ok. and 10 teeth and pinion mesh position 29mm. Could the pitch of the gear be wrong or can the gear be changed on the starter that i have, i see on the Burton site that they have alternative gear with 9 teeth.
I am totally throwing money at this, gathering up starters and getting absoloutley nowhere.
Very frustrated

Could you measure the size of the opening to see if you need a 76mm flange or the bigger 89mm flange. Also could you measure from the mounting face to the flywheel.

That way I can work out exactly what you need.

Hi Starter man

I measured the opening with a vernier, it is 89mm. The depth from the mounting plae face( the side that the starter will butt to) to the front side of the flywheel (Closest to the front of the car) is 18mm
Hopefully you can assist

Regards

Mark
