13” Minilite wheels, but which tyres?

Morning all
I've bought some 13” minilite wheels for the westi, all have good tyres but are 175/70R13s. From a handling point of view is it worth swapping for a 185/70R13, or even wider 205/60r13 to put more rubber on the ground? The car used 13" wolfrace alloys with 185/60R13 tyres previoulsy, so I'm guessing that may have been for good reason. I'd appreciate any tips from you guys.

Lastest restore diary video which shows car progress

Thanks in advance
JK

How wide are the minilights?

Also you need to remember the different tyres will alter the speedo reading,'will they fit.com' is a great website to work out how the wheels will sit in your arches and it also gives you speedo difference and ride height difference

I would say with your XE power the minimum tyre size wants to be a 185/60.
Quite a popular set up on Westfields is 185/60 on the front and 205/60 on the rear,but you need a minimum wheel width of 6 inch to use a 205/60

I’m using 185/60/13 all round on mine with the new R888R tyres, very happy with it so far and still gives me a bit of rear end play when I want it.
That’s on a striker with a 130hp zetec

Great advice guys, will they fit is a great site. Thanks

The wheels I've bought are defo wider than 6" so I've got some good options.

Cheers

7" = 205/60/13

As you had 175/70/13 before they must have been stretched to fit, I suspect you have 6" rims so have a look on the back for sizing.

7 inch is the ideal choice for a 205,but they are fine on a 6 inch rim which is the minimum width rim recommended
