scootz - 9/1/12 at 05:45 PM

... is there a prettier kit-car on the market?

jeffw - 9/1/12 at 05:59 PM

Yes

JP's previous attempt

The Sylva (now Raw) Phoenix. I've looked at and sat in a J15 and it is OK until you realise how low the sides are.

scootz - 9/1/12 at 06:03 PM

You think???

RAW PHOENIX

StrikerChris - 9/1/12 at 06:06 PM

I quite like that actually!bit of perspex over the lights and I'd have it.then again I do own a maestro.

Just notice it has perspex!definitely have it if its not some ford or bike engine ha

HowardB - 9/1/12 at 06:27 PM

fury for me, but if it was open book, then it would be a lotus 11 or similar,..

scootz - 9/1/12 at 06:32 PM

Aye, the Fury's not bad... seems that JP has a bit of a flair for shaping a car!

ashg - 9/1/12 at 06:46 PM

if were going for full bodied cars i quite like the thruxton gt and the ddr gt

ashg - 9/1/12 at 06:50 PM

k1 attack is also pretty sweet looking

Alfa145 - 9/1/12 at 07:08 PM

JPs Stylus also looks good too, but then again I am biased

loggyboy - 9/1/12 at 07:24 PM

The j15 just looks a little to long, maybe stretched in the centre - the balance is quite right IMO.

Thants a Mk1 Escort pickup, random.

I like that look to, but I love old Fords. . . . . .

adithorp - 9/1/12 at 07:36 PM

JP does seem to come up with the goods a lot. Just wish he'd drop those signiture from arches though.

ashg - 9/1/12 at 07:41 PM

we praise jp for getting it right but he has also made some god darn ugly cars too. in my eyes things notably improved when he gave up trying to do modern

And thank god he changed the name of the J-15, i dont think any amount of good looks would have allowed it to get over the Shindig name that it was originaly released under!

scootz - 9/1/12 at 09:31 PM

Ah yes, the 'shindig'!!! That would have been a travesty!

Actually it's not a MK1 Escort pickup its a Dutton Sierra kit!
Belongs to a good friend of mine, started out as a standard Dutton, he then cut the front up and put a grp escort front on then cut the estate back off it and made the pickup bed. the 1st bed was a flareside but he wasn't quite happy with it so made the one in the pic thats actually all steel.
I've driven it a few times and it's fantastic, handles well and goes well too. Started with a x-flow, then he had my old DOHC engine and now has a zetec.

Agreed - that Thruxton GT200 looks nice form the pics... though isnt it just another Healey sprite replica, much like the MK HSR?

Lower than a 7?

monkeyarms - 10/1/12 at 08:14 AM

But then I may be a bit biased as well...

Ivan - 10/1/12 at 09:28 AM

I have loved the J15 since first seeing a photo of it.

ashg - 10/1/12 at 10:34 AM

i think the thruxton website isn't finished. they are usually at the shows, Adam went out in the demo car and commented that it was good, they do a sierra based one and a BMW version. think the kits started at around £4k (ish) if I remember correctly.

I've disliked it since first seeing it in a photo, and then hated it ever since I first saw it at a show...

It's wrong in so many ways...

I think there are loads of prettier kits out there...

The new website is being developed as we speak. Should be live hopefully next week. It still won't be finished but will be a lot better.
