Video Camera Try Out

It was a nice afternoon today, so I took the car out for a quick spin to try out my new Go Pro mounts.
Front facing Camera is a Go Pro Hero 4 Silver
Rear facing Camera is a SJ4000 clipped on the Caterham headlight bracket.... This really surprised me how good these shots really were for a £45 camera

I had to back off the throttle there because the tyres lit up where I got a little over excited about the gap in the traffic. You can prob see the car twitch there.

I've just bought the SJ4000 cam and i'm very impressed with the quality of the video quality although the sound with the waterproof case needs adressing.How did you find the sound?
I may drill a few holes in the spare rear cover and see if it improves.
What software have you used for your video?
I've always fancied trying to put together something similar.

I used windows movie maker to cut the videos together but it really does take some time.
My hot tip when cutting between the front and rear facing camera is to listen to the engine and when you change gear, change camera angle.
If you want the engine noise you will have to get an external mic and put it under the dash out of the way of the wind.

The sound track from the on board mic is just rubbish at speed. The wind noise is just horrific, which is why I put the music over the top.

Next thing I'm going to try is setup the go pro on the floor by the rear wheels, light up the tyres and slow mo the video - I'll have to record it on 4k though so it looks good.

Since this appears to be a bit of a hot topic, I've looked back through the footage and can now show you what happened and what the road was actually like.

I didn't miss a gear when I pulled away, I had to feather the throttle.

Dont see any issues with that at all... Van was going left, OP was going straight on.

Plenty of space, van had the momentum and carried on as it was clear.

I've used an sj4000 as well, pretty impressed for the price. Tried a few things with the sound but eventually gave in and bought an ebay special 10 quid sound recorder. Chuck that in the glovebox or footwell so that it's out of the wind and splice the sound together later in video studio or whatever.

Only thing was I failed to save the video in the right format so youtube won't show it at HD, lesson learned for next time.
Oh, and the JS is no good for snowboarding, the battery dies immediately in the cold

I have the sj4000 and I did the mod of the camera to add the external mic.

Not tested in the car yet but I will.

If I came up along a car on the right hand side of a junction awaiting to pull out and was going left that's what I would do.
