How old does a person have to be to do a trackday

Hi all

As per title really, also do you need to have a driving license?

My son has been able to drive since he could touch the pedels, off road of course.

Just wondered if at 15 he could drive with me next to him.

Thanks

Driving licence required or if your lucky a race licence. Which I guess you can get at 14 or something ridiculous.

They are also very tight on checking your arm bands so dont think you can just drive by and they will let you on track.

There's a young chap from Scotland competing in some British sprint events in a single seat race car! He was only 16 and is rapid. Check his YouTube vids
John Munro OMS 2000 m

Not trackday, but grassroots motorsport allows drivers from 14 on some events. Certainly some autotests and so on, not sure about autosolos. Must be accompanied though (which seems fair)

Maybe not 'drive what you bring' days, but several tracks do younger driver days. They're pretty much 'can they reach the pedals', and that's it.

Ginetta juniors are for 14-17 year olds iirc.

Apologies, I meant what I posted was not about trackdays, but other driving events. In fact, MUCH cheaper than trackdays, and less risky.....

Brands do a young driver day, my lad did it when he was 14. They use the old gp circuit loop, BMW 1 series manuals and they get about 1 hour in the car doing general driving and cone work. He really enjoyed it. We happen to book on a sunday when the 750mc meet was on so got free entry into that, bonus.

I've taken both of my kids to the U17CC, under 17 car club, they are a group of parents who rent tracks for the day with the idea you teach your child to drive from about 12 years old. It's very well run and has a good structure and about 300 members, You pay an annual fee and attend as much or as little as you want.
