Weird car adverts on eBay?

I've been shopping around for a fun/throwaway/partly 'classic' car over the last few days and have had a couple of weird experiences...

First of all - I saw this Sierra listed: FORD SIERRA GHIA H139LHK

Although the ad says manual one of the interior pics shows an auto stick. So I emailled the seller who told me I was "being silly" and that it was a manual. Then I realised that there were two different Sierra interiors in the photos. Told the bloke this and got another "you're being silly" reply... Bit weird...

Then I spotted a Capri nearby - listed for £2,000... Looked rather decent, so I text the bloke - no reply. A couple of days later I saw it come up on eBay - here: FORD CAPRI 2lt LASER

The phone number on the eBay ad was 1 digit different (same photos though) so I msg'd the bloke - "can I look at the car, btw I saw it on Gumtree for £2k - so are you open to offers on the car". He tells me it was meant to be listed at £4k on Gumtree so it was either a mistake or a different car i'd seen....

Considering it's the first two cars i've really enquired about - it all seems very strange!

1ST only looks like an honest mistake of uploading one wrong photo.

The auto pic is not inside a Sierra ,looks like early Granada and car is silver by the look of it.

The first add shows a  interior of a Ford Granada with a automatic box, so he must have just uploaded the wrong picture.

Are you by any chance 'bluedaf' on eBay and currently selling the aforementioned Sierra? If so your emails did make me chuckle / wonder if someone mischievous had logged onto your account...

Did strike me as odd that someone was in possession of two retro Ford barges though... And was selling the manual one!

It does seem a little odd that you'd 'accidentally' put in a picture of the wrong car and then when asked about it not check and notice the 'mistake'.

Looking at that auction for the Sierra I wonder how many people selling cars currently are going to fall foul to the new tax rules, as he is advertising it as Taxed until August 2015 but ends tomorrow so the new owner wont get it until October 1st at the earliest at which point the current owner will get a tax refund at change of ownership.

True. I suppose it not how much they are worth but more about what people will pay when the really really want one.

Thanks

Isn't that the definition of "what something is worth"!!!!

The good news is that there are cheaper ones out there (still) so I will keep looking...
