Startup (hopefully) day..

Morning chaps..

Today's the day.
11 months into my 3 month build and it's time to start the car up. Couple of bits left to do then it's fireworks.

Got a couple of fire extinguishers to hand (how's that for confident)..

All fluids are checked and all systems such as fan, electric water pump appear to be working properly..

Anything else I should be checking before fire up and looking out for assuming it fires up other than oil or fuel leaks?

Really hope it works out as I've carried on with the build while waiting for a few bits to start it up and If it runs it could be on a track really soon :-)

Assuming you have oil in it I would pull the plugs out and crank it over for a bit on the starter to get the oil around the engine a bit before starting her (probably worth pulling the ecu or fuel pump fuse as well), whilst you have the plugs out you can then check spark, then power up fuel pump and check fuel, if all ok then go for it.

Good luck.

And also the obvious turn the engine over by hand first. Exciting time, good luck.

She fired up on the button surprisingly...
There was an almighty rattle that gave me a heart sinking moment but I quickly realised it was 1 of the adjusters on the lift the car is sitting on..

Small weep from 1 fuel line where it goes into the online filter.
Apart from that it's been fairly undramatic..

Pretty pleased with myself today :-)

No flames thankfully.
Hearing it roar into life has certainly given me the motivation to finish it off now..
Took a picture after a quick scoot around the local school playground :-)
