Motorsport 'Artwork' in your home?

Hi all

Sorry if this is only vaguely car related!

I'm trying to find out if anybody has successfully introduced car or motorsport related photos into their home and how you managed it?!

I know this sounds daft but my wife and i are having a bit of a Mexican stand off over this!

We're carrying out a major revamp of the house - walls down, floors up and going more open plan. When people come into our new lounge, they will see a blank bit of wall over the sofas. My wife wants something 'dramatic' there. The colour scheme she has chosen is grey, red and white (I don't get involved in choosing colours!). So, being a big quattro fan, I immediately thought of this Description
Description
- the colours are perfect ! My wife just laughed and still won't take me seriously. All our family friends treat my passion for motorsport like I'm a bit weird so I guess my wife follows them!

We've been married for almost 20 years so I know that she is always right ... :-)

Ta

Wyn

I've got lots. I manage it by not having a wife.

Although I'm still p***ed off that the last girlfriend I lived with refused to give me a print of Norman Buckley's Miss Windermere IV speed record hydroplane back when we split up, because she claimed she liked it more than I did.

I'm allowed to put anything on the walls, but only in the garage... so just to spite her I've not even put paint on them!

We had pics i took from Goodwood FOS running up the stairs in my old house.

I had a pic of Colin McCray in his classic scooby sliding around a corner. When he died my wife made a black ribbon which was tied to the corner to mark his death.

My wife tollerates my petrolhead passion. Thats why I married her!!

I have the Steve McQueen print from the Le Mans film where hes giving the two finger salute, its a great picture in black and white. Unfortunately my 7yr old petrolhead son wants to know why i have a pic of a man being very rude! Lol he understand when hes older.

Also have an Andy Warhol pring of 3 Mille Miglia Merc SLRs.
Er Indoors is a car fan and ex competitor, so i get away with more than most

Jack vetriano bluebird print in my study.

Have print of an anglia that my son had made for me with the same colours and wheels as my car and number plate, very special to me.

I also love an Austrian guy called klaus wagger, if my numbers come up one of his would be on my wall, love his auto union pics. He used to have a pitch at the goodwood fos which is where I first saw his work.

I've got the Bluebird at Bonneville by Jack Vettriano and a Le Mans start with some 1950's Astons that my partner Dot bought for my birthday last year, coming to think of it the vettriano print was a Christmas present a few years ago so I can say she is very tolerant of my love of motorsports.

I have three. One in the "public" bit of the house is a picture on a side board of the connew f1 car experiencing an engine failure at brands hatch if I remember correctly. Thankfully my wife is understanding and let's me get the odd but my way. The others are a felix petrol lotus 7 print in my study and another small lotus 7 print on the landing.

What I would do is put my foot down, tell her what I'm going to do without question. Leave it an hour or until she's speaking to you. Then just do as your told it's easier that way I've found.

Sounds a fine route forward to me - give her some time and space to adjust and go-ahead.

I retain my rights in the garage and have installed some old fashioned petrol and oil plaques as a result. Inside I have to be a little more forgiving and have allowed some poncy flower prints to go up - not my choice, but then I do have to share the house with others

Thanks everybody - some great photos you all have! I'll tread carefully for now! I'm putting a lot of effort into the renovation so maybe my good lady will allow me something!

I do like your advice though LBMEFM!
