Scimitar engine suggestions

I was planning on using a Lexus V8 in my Scimitar but have decided to change direction slightly - it'll still be heavily modified chassis and interior but am thinking of a turbo 2 litre - maybe 2.0 ecoboost as because reasonably powerful, quite "green" which will future proof ability to drive in towns banning certain Euro ratings.

Thoughts or alternative suggestions please. Will be connecting to RX8 gearbox and maybe running with emerald etc if Ford proves to be a pita.

Cheers

Simon

How about Saab turbo engines?
In my country very popular use BMW gearbox, quite cheap`e and can hold power.

Has there been something about using updated engines in old cars? The euro rating is surely associated with the whole car, and you would need to use the OEM management at least. And get some sort of certification? So in all honesty, it probably isn't worth going for green credentials on that basis alone.
In fact, you may have better access to those zones using an oroginal engine, as the car would then get VHI status at 40 years and usually some exemptions. Change the engine, and you instantly lose VHI (and the MoT exemption that goes with it).

the scimitar was born with a v6...so anything with less cylinders would be a downgrade and would not really suit the car....it needs something v6, v8-ish....or a TVR speed-6

Lexus v8 , I’m so chuffed with the 1uz in my roadster I’m now putting a 3uz 4.3vvti in a new build . Running stock management with obd2 access and fully compliant for mot test limits which is as tight as I can see Petrol emmussion tests getting for a while . Plenty of bolt on stuff to convert to manual and un lock the ecu and work without the auto box . One of very few engines with pretty much no reliability issues below 200k

Jab V8 would get my vote. Supercharged version for bonus points...

But, since the question is about using a 4 pot motor, maybe a Saab turbo? Or SR20DET?

Why not keep it simple - would a BMW 6 and gearbox fit?

I'm sure brexit will deal with stupid bans on engines any so wouldn't even list that as an issue. Totally unenforceable nonsense anyway.

I'd be shoving in tbe v8 and converting it to LPG. In the far future convert it to electric once the tech and prices make it worthwhile.

Cheers for replies -

Had the Lexus V8 and sold it in a moment of madness in October, had thought about Jag V6/V8 but V6 deffo more appropriate (and just seen a vid of a turbo'd Jag V6 in a Scimitar on the modified Scimitar facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/mark.burley.50/videos/10160297877700106 ).

I had thought about the Jag V6 diesel - 206bhp and quite a lot of mpg (and BMW diesels too) but given they seem to be out of favour atm thought more of a modern petrol engine instead. The emissions propsals have been dealt with elsewhere on here.

Cheers again

MX-5 NC 2.0 with the BBR turbokit is good for 270hp and has the same'ish gearbox as the RX-8.

But I think a six cylinder would suit the Scimitar best, but the ecoboost v6 is kinda expensive.

A mate of mine has two scimitars, one has the Vauxhall’s v6 from an omega (comes in red version) and the other is getting the 3.0l jag engine putting in with the Jag gearbox but it is not easy to find a manual flywheel and clutch for it.
