Striker steering column

Thought ii had some play in my rack but its the triangle shaped slipper part of the steering column, can this be fixed or is it normal for a tiny bit of play?

Not sure if this helps but the triangle shaped bit on mine is pushed in tight to a pillow bearing and I have no play in it that I can see....not the best picture but hopefully this helps

I have the same fix as Peter.

There was a load of wobble due to no support on the column, probably from end to end.

It works a treat and I have no noticeable play now.

Or are you referring the telescopic collapsible part? In which case there is a little plastic shim that should be in there to remove that movement.

Yes in the sliding collapsible triangle bit. Is that a shim hat goes round the whole triangular shaft? Is it a piece I can remove at a scrap yard?

I just have the triangular plastic bit and I think that is held on with a jubalee clip to stop it sliding back out. Also means if I need it to collapse, the jubalee will just slide up the shaft.

Now you have got me thinking and I can't recall how my sliding bit now works....I will have to have a look later in the week and see if I can get some better pictures of the setup. It certainly works well and is much better than the Escort based setup on my previous Striker

Just ordered a sierra steering column bush kit which should have the bits to fix the niggle, cheers all
