Hi Guys,
Im after advise, what should i expect to get for £5-6k?
Ive just started to look for a bec so no appreciation of prices yet.
Ideally i would like a 2000+ mk indy with a cage, and an R1 or zx-12r / busa engine. 180 ish bhp. in reasonable condition.
Does this sound achievable?
Anyone know how much it costs to get cage fitted afterwards?
Do you want it completed and road legal and ready to drive away or would you be willing to buy something newer and maybe better with the need for work
on it or even putting through IVA?
£6k will get you one, but far too many variables to give an accurate answer
could you advise what variables i should consider.
I dont mind doing a bit of work to be honest. I would rather not have to put it through IVA.
I was thinking perhaps a lower spec so i can change to disks or lsd or coilovers and bushes etc etc.
There is one for sale, but its miles away in newcastle. 6400 for xz12r. drums, no lsd. sound reasonable?
however there are some immaculate looking blades for 5k.
get one off the blades engine cars buddy,if the engine goes pop in the car because some times they do,blade engine going to cost u £400/£500 zx12 a lot more
you should get a nice MK from the 2000 years, also a Tiger, are end 90ies westfield in good condition, also a very nice fisher fury.
all cars in nice, well built condition.
can you get a blade up to 180 ish bhp? i am really after a bit of a rocket ship to be honest. Saying that ive not been out of a test in either.
Can i assume that all lotus 7 style cars will have no power assisted brakes, steering, and no abs? (as thats what im after).
I also saw a car had heaters? That might be nice. is it common to have a heater (no biggy if it isnt, just might make winter trackdays more
tolerable!)
You wont find PAS ABS or servo brakes. No need for any of that.
I th 5-6 is a toigh budget for a BEC in good condition.
Prices have drpped in recent years but I think 6+ is a mote honest budget.
Get out to the shows and local car meets. Contact members local to you. Just get used to looking closely at these cars and get a ride out.
Good luck.
thanks for the advice. i shall keep it in mind.
lets see what piston heads brings in the next few months
