It's been a few years!

Indeed it has, quite a few years since I ventured on here. A lot has changed - Sensible (?!?!?) projects, property purchase and a garage build.

What's the plans then? Currently I'm torn between my E39 M5 (for which I built the workshop garage last year so it has a home to live in) that I've had for nearly 4 years now and selling up to go back down the Locost/kitcar route.

After seeing a friends turbocharged Westfield recently, it's reignighted the lure of a scratch build again and with now having a decent sized workshop space there is zero issue on the build area front, especially since it's fully insulated with central heating, computer system, audio system and plenty of crisp LED lighting (I'm not trying to boast, but I am proud of it!).

It's a tough one to call, especially since every time I drive the M5 it reminds me why I bought it in the first place.

But other than that, it's nice to see some of the old faces are still here from when I did my initial scratch build using the 442 plans well over 10 years ago.

Welcome back, I'm currently building a 442E/haynes roadster hybrid with the BMW M52tu25 engine.

Just a thought, what would happen if you took the engine out the M5 and put it in a lightweight chassis such as a 442 ;-) (wheelie in a car anyone?)

Always thought that engine would go well in a Hawk 289, think there is one in a the back of an ultima somewhere or that may have been the v10 version (mmmmm v10 ultima with 8k red line).

Still driving trains?

Cheers gents!

The M5 is certainly NOT for breaking - They're an appreciating classic now and are few and far between in top condition. If it had chassis rot issues (like many do now around the jacking points and subframe mounts) then I'd of considered that.

Kev, Still on the railway driving yes mate. 4 years ago I left passenger train work and went to DB driving freight trains - Best 3 years of my career until I had a letter of potential redundency. Fast forward to now, and I'm back on passenger trains hammering up and down the ECML on a daily basis to London and back.
