A local tool shop want £65 for a bottle of CO2 containing 2kg of gas. This includes buying the bottle, then you exchange it for a full one for £6.50 a time. Is this a good price?

I was given an empty pub gas bottle but I'm told it's not entirely legal to have one. What is a good way to dispose of it?

A fire extinguisher co. can do it for you , it's the same CO2 after all.
£12 it costs here for a pub bottle to be filled.

goto local gas supply company.

im looking at getting mine done now.

i used to get my pub landlord from down the road to sort for £20 and i know he made money on it.

i would say no more than £20 for refil.

Find your local welding supplies company and call them about CO2 welding bottle refill and see what they say.

20 pounds or less would be my guess.

Last one I got was from the Beer Seller, a local wholesale warehouse. Cost £15 no deposit.

I go to a local fire extinguisher refilling place and pay £1 a kilo or £6 for my large pub bottle its pumped in and sold by weight. used to go to a local welding supplies and get ripped off as they decanted from a big full size bottle so it was a bit of luck as to how much you got.

I went down to a certain welding supplies place when the boss wasn't around. Asked about bottles and the bloke said they'd got some BOC ones that had been handed in. When they took them back to BOC they got LOADS of grief so where happy to give them to me.

May be worth trying your local place - although this was with random bloke behind the counter and the boss wasn't around.

My local landlord pays £15 for them.

I've offered him £20. I haven't a problem with someone making a profit.

I have always had a BOC Argoshield bottle and paid a small fortune for the gas and the bottle rental. That was until I discovered that BOC were offering a "hobbyist discount" over on the Mig Welding forum.
The guy at BOC that set up this discount for non commercial customers is into car restoration and posts on the welding forum. I now have replaced my small X sized bottle for the huge Y sized bottle (this is going to last me ages) for £61.31 for the gas and an annual rental of £35.77. Now I know this is still dearer that tapping up your local landlord for pub gas but it is a much better deal for any existing BOC customers amongst us and anyone considering Argoshield.
