Gearbox, Prop, clutch

Ford Type 3 Gearbox and related bits-n-bobs for sale.

Has really good close ratios, has a much better 1st gear ratio than the type 9 I've just fitted. Lighter than a type 9 too. was half thinking about putting it back in - but know never to take a step backwards

I will try to look-up / measure the ratios if anybody is interested.

I have no history for it other than it was fitted to my 1989 westfield when I bought it last year. Previous owner said he had seen some problems with down-shift into 2nd. Not sure I ever did, but may be I didn't drive it hard enough or long enough to see them. Other than that, seems OK, smooth to turn.

Seen them advertised for silly money on flea-bay Ford 4 Speed type 3 Gear Box and Bellhousing on eBay (end time 11-Nov-10 12:07:59 GMT) but don't expect to get that much - Make me an offer ?

Type 3
Type 3
Burton Link

Matching iron Bell housing. Was Fitted to Zetec black top, so "standard" Ford pattern.
- £10

Matching Propshaft.
7/8" x 20 spline for gearbox and output for old Ford Escort diff. UJs all smooth turning.
£50
Propshaft

Prop End

Prop end

Helix Motorsport Clutch
215mm diameter, friction material 7.5mm (compresses to 7.2mm when you squeeze the springy inner plates together)
Only done a few 100 miles (as far as I know)
(I got an identical one but with splines for type 9 gearbox and that cost about £85)
£40

This was all removed from my Westfield when we "upgraded" to a Type-9 gearbox this summer.

Prefer collection from Hinckley( between Leicester / Coventry , near to Mallory Park). Or will try to help deliver/meet if it helps. Have friends in Oxford, York and Letchworth if that helps.

All prices open to negotiation.

cheers
Tim.

Sorry, I guess I didn't write the advert very well:

The clutch plate for sale is a 20 spline x 7/8th inch input to suite the Type 3 gearbox.

I believe it is this : Performance Clutches

The one I am selling will not fit a type 9 gearbox. I only mentioned the type 9 clutch to give an indication of price new.

Cheers
Tim.

Hey Tim

Would you be willing to ship the Bell to Canada?

Thanks, Ted

Hi Ted,

don't object to sending stuff to Canada in general,
But the Bellhousing is really heavy, so I'm guessing would cost a lot. I'll check.

All other stuff still available. Must get around to sticking it on ebay !

( PM sent to Benje2 re clutch )

Cheers,

Tim.

Hey Tim, I think I may be having a brain fade -- the transmission mounting face is similar to a type 9, not a T5 as I'd originally thought.

Sorry Ted
