delete first speed busa

Hello everybody,

i would like to delete the first speed on the gear box of hayabusa, what it is the best solution ?
I undestand it's can be strange but it's very important...

Thanks in advance.

Can't imagine why you would want to but I would look at welding up the
groove in the selector drum to stop 1st being engaged.

To modify the drum, yes.

Why do you want to remove first anyway ? If the gearing is wrong would it not be better to
change the differential ?

It's necessary to be impossible to pass the first but to keep the neutral, i understand it's can seem crazy but there is a link with my other link to " reduce the noise of the air box"....
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a terrible idea to me. If you weld first out of the gear selection, you might not be able to select neutral?

I don't understand why you want to eliminate first gear to reduce air box noise??"??

If i delete the first , the RPM for the tests will be different......
The modification must be reversible.
Thanks

You're trying to solve the symptom, not the cause. Doing this is likely to cost you more money, time and pain. If you're looking to fiddle the RPM and noise relationship, get an adjustable rev counter. Switching it to 8cylinder will halve the RPMs. Did that on a track day once, nd it worked!

As per your other topic - I still think that some form of electronic rev limiting in second gear would be the best solution to your drive by noise problem.

Could be as simple as a solenoid which creates a throttle stop when 2nd gear is sensed.

During the test, they don't look the rpm but the speed, so to reduce the noise i need to limit the true rpm .
The tests have been passed in second and third speed, so if i delete the first, the test will be passed in 3 and 4.(because the 1 is now the 2).
At 45 MPh the rpm are lower in 3 than in 2 speed, so the noise is lower too, no ?

Can you explain what i can use Minitici to limit the rev in second please ?
Perharps a power commander ?

i am not sure to understand "cog out " scudderfish thanks....

What about recalibrating the speedo for the test? I really wouldnt start removing gears from these engines, as replacement costs are £££.

I have think about this, i have a stack so i maybe it's possiblebut i think if the car cruise at 25 MPH instead of 45 probably the examinator don't like this idea.....

It's true but it's necessary to block the first because when the examinator will pass the neutral , i will probably find the realy first too....
Modify the gear linkage like say bowhood will be perfect but after a duscussion with cosmick , he think that will modify the Functioning of the other speeds.

What ratio differential are you using ?

If the goal is to reduce rpm at a given speed then can you not put a much lower diff in ?
Easy and reversable. Maybe you could even borrow one for the test.

Of course no but it's better to come with something clear....
The tests of VOSA seem to be réalist, the tests we must passed in france are very difficult...

Why not electronically disable the engine if it goes into 1st. Call it an engine stop mode (like 'park' for an automatic).

Cheap and easily reversed.
