G'Day from down-under

Hello everyone!

It has literally been years since I first started reading these forums after a trip to the UK national kit car show show some 5 years ago. Back them I was just dreaming, didnt have the garage space or disposable income to build anything.

Fast forward to today and I've moved to Australia where I have full use of a workshop with forklifts, MIG welders, TIG welders, Mag particle NDT, gantry crane, air tools etc - So really I now have no excuse!! We also have an auto-electrician and CANBUS guru who is likely to come in handy.

I'm a mechanical engineer and spend a lot of time doing commercial vehicle and rail vehicle chassis analysis, I love the idea of tweaking a self-build chassis and tinkering in CAD to see if I can make it better.

I've teamed up with a mate at work who has more welding qualifications than I've had proverbial hot dinners and is also keen to build something from scratch.

The plan is to build something, see how we get on then build another, either the same of different, then flip them between us as and when we fancy a change.

We're really undecided on what to build, only real criteria are that is has to be a scratch built chassis to suit an engine and donor parts that are easily available in Western Australia - The latter eliminates anything that uses Sierra or Escort parts but favours the V6 Camry engine that's in the Lotus Elise

Enough rambling for now, I'm going to trawl the other parts of this forum for inspiration!!
