Older cars from Plans,Evolution and F27

Both of the above were from plans both feature originally a Live Axle, while the Evolution was a touch ugly with the split screen it did feature rocker arm front suspension,as did the Formula 27,only with a different type.

Anyone ever build one of them?
Front suspension ? Any good?

I believe that the Formula 27 went on to become the F27 from YKC,without the plan option

How did the F27 front suspension top bearings work? Was it a mini radius arm shaft?

i bought plan set number 57 when i was 16 (20 years ago), built the chassis up and the suspension, then discovered drinking and ended up selling the chassis and all parts from a mkII escort estate i had stripped down. The car was eventually finished by someone, but no idea where it is now or if the suspension design was any good.

one of the lads at our motor club hillclimbed a F27 with a busa engine.
very quick car, got some good results until he blew the engine

I've got sets of plans for both the cars I should add somewhere
The better chassis IMHO was the Evolution,
The F27 with the Suzuki engine would more than likely from YKC, which more than likely (again) would be different from the original drawings

Good Grief I felt something was familar, then I checked the previous

IIRC the F27 front suspension had question marks over how strong it was (could be wrong).

May we ask what you're trying to do?

I'd suggest the first step is selecting your upright, then mounting to suit it.

^^^^^ lower wishbone was made by welding on a nut instead of the sronger methid of using a threaded tube.
