I just need the one for the back of my trike... can anyone vouch for the handbrake function on them being any good? It will need to hold up to 350kg (hopefully less!)

Cheers!

Handbrake is pretty poor, I am using them on my MK for look and weight instead of the sierra handbrake calipers. Although the Sierra Calipers have a far better Handbrake.

Oh... and as I need just the one of these cables, then is there anywhere I can get a single (and save a bit on RD's £34+Vat)!

AdiT is using these on the back of his Fury I think. Very nice handbrake lever action as well, nicely ratcheted and progressive - best one I've felt on a kitcar. But that's all down to his lever design rather than the Wilwoods

Hi mate i have them on mine hand brake is wee poor going to have to put drums back on for mot unless i can gear up hanbrake lever

Mine was poo when first fitted due to the lack of leverage; both at the caliper and the lever. I modified the linkage to add a multiplying lever in the tunnel. I have a pivot on one lower chassis rail with a lever accross the tunnel the handbrake lever pulls via a short link cable on the other end. The rear cables are attached about 1/5th of the length from the pivot. Nice smooth action that holds car and two passengers with ease on 25% gradient. I'd post pictures but my photobucket account is playing up.

The other downside of them is that, in theory, they need regular cable adjustment due to thier direct action on the pads and my set-up should make that worse. In reality, I've adjusted the cable twice in 10,000 miles.

Hi Adi

Do you have any pics of the mods you did? Looking at fitting these calipers this weekend

Cheers

Look similar to knott style trailer cables:

Hello Aditorp. Can you share an image of the solution mentioned here please? I have the same problem and have an idea in my head what the solution may look like.

Here you go...

I had the same calipers and issue

I just changed the ratio at the handbrake lever.

HI Scott,

These calipers get a poor write up, everywhere you read.

An alternative...Get the rear, non-handbrake, caliper that suits your purpose, then put a single Jag inboard handbrake caliper on. The Jag handbrake calipers actually do work!

Cheers,
Nev.

Excellent thank you, i will attempt to make a similar lever on mine. A back up plan is a differnt caliper such as the Jag one mentioned but that will be a last resort.
