LPG Conversion?
Hi Guys,
As you are all gurus when it comes to motoring I thought you might be able to help. My brother is thinking about converting his Land Rover Defender to
LPG is it possible to do this yourself and if so has anyone done it to a car of theirs?

I,ve done three, two P38 range rovers and my current drive, an XK8 jag.
Its easy and very worthwhile, the system I have in now is made by Volgas and is fully sequential but allows you to mix gas and petrol, previous was an
OVML Dream system on my 4.6 RR, this to was very good.
Only point to watch is ignition, this needs to be spot on and decent cam etc, when I did my rangerovers I replaced the leads, plugs cam and followers
at the time.
Economy where it counts in you pocket is double the mileage, RR managed 180 miles to 60 litre of gas, so although 13 to the gallon it makes the car
drivable ~ to 26mpg on petrol. The jag is 300 miles to 60 litres so as cheap as a diesel car to run.
It takes 1 clear weekend to fit, more time deciding where to place items than actually fitting.

I can get 550 miles to 50 Litres of fuel in my 1.7CDTI astra estate

i can get over 600 miles from my corsa 1.7CDTI without trying,
got my mrs the new astra twin-top 1.9 CDTi only gets 40mpg i was told it would get over 50mpg no problem.

I think Wheeler Dealers show just did an old Landie very cheaply (under £500 kit)and got it tested and certificated afterwards to keep the insurance
company happy.

For the same money I drive 600 miles.
LPG 54p per litre, diesel 1.09 per litre, I rest my case.
But does your astra get to 60 in ~6.5 seconds with a v8 rumble?
