Borg Warner 65 Auto Box to Manual
I've picked up a Formula 27 to play with over the summer. I'll move it on when my trike is ready.
It's an auto and uses the Rover SD1 running gear (V8 engine and Borg Warner 65 box).
The ONLY thing I might do is swap out the auto box for a manual. Can anyone recommend the easiest / cheapest solution should I go down this route?
Cheers
PS - no piccies yet as I couldn't drive it home (the fueling is all over the place and it was struggling to top 40mph ).

Remove auto box and all bits including flywheel/torque converter etc.
Remove old spigot bush, get the right one from Rimmers, also replace flywheel/clutch (careful when assembling engine/box as possible to dislodge
clutch slave/arm).
If using carbs, cut off/remove kickdown part of throttle linkage.
Mount clutch master cylinder and connect, bleed, connect prop and drive away
Something like that anyway

Cheers Simon... I perhaps didn't explain myself well (why change the habit of a lifetime ). I was looking for suggestions for which manual
box to use (LT77?) and if there is any box / clutch / flywheel / bellhousing combo that is more straightforward than others.

Apparently it's interchangeable with the borg warner 35 box. The BW35 has it's own wiki page (can't find one for the 65) and it
lists cars that used the 35, so I'm guessing the manuals from the makes listed would fit? (Volvo is an option )

the usial 3 for the RV8 are the LT77, R380 and T5
the T5 was used by TVR and is pretty well bomb proof (but you'll pay for it)
it shouldn't be to hard to find an LT77 withouh breaking the bank
as far as I know the R380's were all in 4x4's as standard so need the transfer box swapped for a normal tail housing (no idea what this
involves, only ever seen them being sold as recon boxes)

LT77s if you can find one, 77mm is the distance between the mainshaft and layshaft, the 's' is for stronger...
You will need to refettle the pedals, personally I would look to swap to a 4speed ZF auto, you will not change gear as fast !!!

Never mind Yorkshire, I'd not make it to East Linton with the carbs in the state they're in!

Put injection on it, you know it makes sense
I used LT77 - straight from an SD1.
