Looking for light weight alloy bits for pinto please?
Hi,
Just going through the car, tarting it up a bit etc and would like to get hold of some of the above if anyone knows of a supplier?
I've had the usual inter web search but got fed up by page 10.
Looking for stuff like alternator brackets, the standard one is ridiculously heavy.

From what I recall!
Burton Power do some bits, but I think you'll pay for them.
On the alternator bracket I made myself one from a piece of 50x50mm angle iron. Whilst not the lightest it was lighter (and smaller) than the
original item. It was also quick and easy to make as well.

Yeah I know! Lol but I've got to try.
I was thinking of trying something similar but with Aluminium if there isn't anything out there.

Again IIRC you can (if so inclined) buy an Aluminium cylinder block and head for a Pinto. You'll pay dearly for it and when compared to lighter
weight engines not gain much out of it.

Fit a lightweight Denso type Alternator and a small Odysey (or similar) Battery and you will have saved a fair bit straight away 
They don't call 'em The Anchor for nothing

The RS 2000 has an aluminium alternator bracket. There are also alloy bellhousings which must save quite a bit.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

I've seen the price of those blocks and heads. I don't understand why you would pay it personally.
I'd like to go ST170 but until then . . .

Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha do a comprehensive range of lightweight parts for the Pinto installation. Some of the unstressed parts are even supplied in
magnesium. The above also fabricate superb lightweight sequential gearbox components, it's possible to even acquire a complete kit of
engine/transmission parts, assembled as running unit. Have a browse.

Sorry, but couldn't resist that.
Joking apart, would it not be possible to fabricate brackets yourself - tube, top-hats and buckets are lighter than cast components. I'm
assuming you've looked at some of the lightweight bits from Burton, if they're any help in getting the weight down a bit.
