Metal forming courses?
Miks15 - 15/10/14 at 06:55 PM

Has anyone on here been on any metal forming courses? Fancy having a go and learning some new skills.

I'm based in the west midlands but happy to travel a bit for the right thing. Want to be able to some metal sculpture work at some point in the future, but i guess its the same sort of forming used to do car bodies etc.

So anyone have any recommendations?

I know a few folks who have been to http://www.contourautocraft.co.uk/ and they all say it's excellent. If I had the cash, I'd certainly sign-up.

There is a place in Peterborough that run courses. They specialise in making panels for Jaguars but the course is for anyone and shows the skills involved including heat treatments etc. Complete Kit Car mag had an article the other year on it but I have heard of the courses before.

have to see if I can find the details. Contour Autocraft

If I went on such a course I’d come out with crazy plans to hand build my own Ferrari!

Check your local Technical College for evening courses...I went to a welding course @ Bracknell and the tutor was happy to cover other skills (lathe, milling, metal forming) at the same time whilst others were practicing their welding..

.. were also able to bring personal projects in....I modified my Throttlebodies on the course....

So now isn't the time to buy shares in companies making fibreglass nose cones then ?
