OT : Downloading Something From My SKY + to PC
Barkalarr - 25/3/15 at 02:45 PM

Myself and my son made a rather rare (but very quick) appearance on the TV last night....

I recorded the program on my SKY + box, and I want to get this on the PC so I can eventually grab the split couple of seconds we were filmed.

Any ideas how I can do it ? (the locost way)

What program?

BT Sport 1 (Not in HD)

There's no way to perform a digital copy as far as I know, Sky spent a lot of effort ensuring this couldn't happen. You could digitise the video from the scart output using a video grabber, if you have one.

Is the program available through catchup on Sky Go? You could view it through your desktop, and you may be able to use one of the various video grabbers to try to record it, though I've not had much luck doing this, and it's still not a proper digital copy.

Locost choice, point your camera phone at the TV screen

I bought a USB video capture device, it was the easiest way I found to get video off. I think it was about a tenner?

The only way I can do it is to play it on the sky box and record to my recorder.

Then I copy it to a DVD.

This is what I want to do.... what do I need ?

I have a freeview box that has a hard drive in it.

I run a lead from the Skybox to it in parallel to the TV - HDMI to the TV and old fashioned scart to the recorder.

I press record just before I press play on the skybox.
Once the recording is complete, I use the recorder to write to it's own DVD drive.
It is a Panasonic DMR EX83.

You could record to anything you have that will take a video/audio signal from the sky box.

If it's an encrypted channel, you can't as it's stored encrypted...
