Headphone recommendations

Afternoon all,

I'm after a new set of headphones to use with my phone while travelling. Sadly I'm deaf in my right ear so over ear are better than in ear. I've used Sennheiser headphones at home for many years and find them very good.

Can anyone recommend something for me?

I've tried a few over the years (including Beats, Sony, Pioneer), and always come back to Sennheiser.

Not sure what current models or costs are, but think I'm still on a pair of HD209's which I love.

I use AKG 550 MK2's ... very nice..

You'll be needing low impedance phones if you intend to plug directly into your phone.

Google "headphone impedance".

AKG K550 Mk1 work fine with my phone and sound lovely. Not sure if you can still get them, cost me £69 from Amazon.

I have several sets for different circumstances. However, my go-to are Bose quiet comfort over-ear. They are easy to wear and the active noise suppression works very well for me.

They're very reliable and the chord detaches, which has proven useful more than once.

After a bit more Googling I decided to go for a pair of Sennheiser HD201 headphones. My Sennheiser 480 II have kept me very happy indoors for some years so I stuck with the brand. £22 from ebay and should be here today or tomorrow. Pondered "wireless" for a while, but I'm really not that worried about wires and the 201's weren't expensive either. Phone wise I've got a Samsung A3 so fingers crossed it all works well together.

SPYDER - As suggested I've checked out headphone impedance. The HD201's are 24 Ohms so should be OK. Whilst I've always paid attention to the impedance of loudspeakers I've never really thought about it for headphones!

I got Sennheiser HD201 - didn't like 'em. They made my ears sweaty and the have a really long lead which you're in danger of tripping over.

Got some fold-flat Sony headphones which were half-price for £12.50

Well, they've arrived and look OK. Not had a chance to listen yet, but have a walk/train/bus journey home to do so. Fingers crossed they're OK!

1.5hr journey home last night gave me a good chance to use the new headphones with my phone. Have to say they sounded just fine to me and were comfortable to wear as well. Happy with my choice

Feedback - they sound good to me!

Being deaf in one ear the fully cupped ear is a real benefit as it usefully reduces external noise.
