Let's see if I can remember all of mine:

Ford Sierra (killed for its parts)
Ford Sierra (killed because I tried to shove it into 1st at 40mph, seemed a good idea at the time)
Ford Sierra (killed for its engine)
MK Indy (haven't killed that one yet, let's hope I never do!)

Sadder that just remmembering the cars I can remember the number plates of each ,how long I had them, how much they cost and what I sold for.

Mini 1000, M reg 250 400

Mazda 626, K reg 7000 5000 trade in
Honda Prelude, l reg 12000 still got it
BMW 735i, 500 1000 trade in the same day
Ford sierra 4x4 donor, d reg 75 locost donor,
Mazda MX6 j reg import 7500 700 trade in,
Merc c280 Sport, t reg 12500 still got it
Cinqicento M reg free still got it.

The last 4 I still have.

Best 1 is a difficult choise,

The Fiat 127 was my fisrt sports car (70hp), the 126 was hillarious to drive as it was rear wheel drive and once you hit 60 it cornered like a train and you really had to drive it to get passed anything.

The MX6 was the 200 hp import and was the cheapest to run for the 7 years I had it but the Merc is just smooth and comfy and the V6 drinks the fuel.

I think the Merc must be the best (until the Locost that is...)

Guinness - 8/9/05 at 02:51 PM

Learnt to drive in a Fiat Uno Diesel,
passed my test in a Vauxhall Astra Merit 1.2,
got a Volvo 360GLT with RWD and 2.0l engine in lower 6th form,
then a Honda Accord Aerodeck 2.2 in upper 6th form,
then I went to uni in a Fiat Uno 55S,
then when I sank that in the Atlantic I sold it,
and bought a Mini Convertible, that someone stole the roof off, so I sold that,
and bought an Audi 80 Sport, which had bent suspension so I sold it,
and bought a Rover 216 Vitesse, which was horrible, so I sold and
bought a Fiat Uno Turbo with a BBR kit on it,
then I finished uni and went home in a second Audi 80 Sport. Then I got a proper job, instead of selling cars, so I bought a VW Sicrocco, which was so bad my boss used to hire me a Mondeo to go to meetings in. Then I bought a Pug 106XSi, which was great.

Then I started on company cars,

Audi A3 Automatic 1.6l
Renault Laguna Automatic 2.0l
VW Passat 1.9tdi 130bhp Estate

Currently an Audi A4 TDi and an Indy!

17 and one on the way!

Looks like the Mini seems to be the most popular and Im well impressed by those who can remember their Number plates for the cars they've owned. Since my 9-5 is so bloody dull im going to stick the lists in a spreadsheet and do a count up though. I only noticed one tipper truck in the reply's!!!!

DaveFJ - 9/9/05 at 07:48 AM

Nothing terribly exotic so far - Except the Davrian I suppose -

considering our shared interests that is quite surprising.

greggors84 - 8/3/06 at 10:39 PM

From the beginning...

1988 Miny City E (First little project, got for free)
1990 Manta 1.8 (Brown with orange interior! Bought of a mate in the pub)
1990 Fiesta 1.1 (Rubbish car but best I could afford to run at the time)
1999 Fiesta 1.25 (Loved it at the time nippy and seemed to handle well)
1999 Fiesta 1.25 (Zetec model, so bit sportier looking and 3 door)
1992 Sierra Sapphire 2.0l DOHC (Donor car)
1995 106 S1 Rallye (Very fun car, lightweight and awesome handling)
1980 Range Rover 3 Door (Bought off another mate in the pub for a good deal, under refurb)
2006 MK Indy, built and just waiting for SVA to be sorted.

The best? Ive only driven the Indy to MOT and back, so never pushed it but definately put a big smile on my face. But the rallye i have pushed close to its limits and its so much fun, power doesnt kick in till over 5k revs and pulls all the way to 7250 rpm.

GeoffB, im sure you will back me up in saying the rallye is probably as close to a locost you can get in a tin top. Small relativly low power engine, but light weight and amazing handling.

NS Dev - 9/3/06 at 11:41 AM

I'm 28, passed my test at 17 in 1994

Road Cars -

1987 VW Polo - , fwd pile of shite

1986 Opel Manta GTE Coupe - , first proper car, taught me to weld very thin rusty metal and how to powerslide!

1988 Opel Manta GTE Exclusive - put an XE 16v in it on some nice Jenvey throttle bodies, 200hp + rwd, great fun, my car through most of college, great for scaring fellow students!

1988 Sierra XR4x4 2.8 - replaced the Manta after a truck wrote it off

1988 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 - tempted to try it and was a bit disappointed, fun, but still fwd crap!

1987 Ford Capri 2.8i Special - such a hoot, made me smile every day, got me 8 points for scaring a horse, "driving without reaosnable consideration" apparently

1982 Ford Granada 2.8i Special, very rare manual one, superb car, better built than anything else I have ever been in, incl BMW's etc. Every conceivable extra in 1982!!! Best £400 I ever spend, never welded, even the aircon and heated seats still worked, love the electric joystick seat adjusters!

1990 Ford Sierra XR4x4 2.9 - current car, just won't die. A big £600 investment 3 years ago, said I'd get rid of it when it failed the MOT, so it promptly passed 3 in a row with no work!

Non-Road cars!

1976 Opel Manta Coupe Rally car

1979 Opel Manta Berlinetta Coupe

1985 Opel Manta GSI Coupe

Mini Autocross Car

Peugeot 205 RWD XE powered rally car

Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v

Grasstrack Special

Another Grasstrack special

Vauxhall Cavalier SRI

Locost!

Plus a load of others that I have forgotten!

GeoffB - 9/3/06 at 09:06 PM

yeah greggors84, i loved that car.
i used to drive it everywhere on the limiter about 8000rpm..ispent about 2.5K on that thing having it flowed ,ported blah blah blah..(it was only worth 3k..too much money and no responabilitys..those were the days..)
i used to love traffic lights grand prixs..

one time pulling away from tesco in gillingham where i lived i had a race and floored it in every gear and only changing when the limiter cuttin..after a while i was doing about 120 (alledgley) in a lower speed zone driving with the car bouncing of the limiter

the only way to drive them is drive it like you are trying to blow it up.. and they love it

I WANT ONE AGAIN..........

trogdor - 9/3/06 at 09:22 PM

well my list is easy,

1976 Saab 96

thats it. Have had it nearly two years now and still haven't got it MOT'd! i guess being at uni away from it for 2/3 of the year doesn't help and working full time when i am there makes it harder too! have made fair bit of progress now tho!

My dads list would be alot more interesting, we counted once and stopped when we got past 50. he used to buy them just before they needed scrapping. has had triumph hearlds saloon, estate and van versions!

countless minis
vitesses
2X fiat 500's
a morris minor as his first car
an midget
and an MGB
i can't remember any other interesting ones!

a rover 214sei is an amazing car, my housemate has one right outside now and its acceleration and power is very impressive for a 1.4 engine. have been in it doing a 125mph!
