i used to work in the cash office at boots, and deal with the baby bounty packs (basically vouchers that new mums get from somewhere to get some free samples of stuff for the baby, food etc)

on the voucher they have to fill in name, address, babys name etc.

i lived in a very turkish area, and once form came in, mothers name was turkish, the babys name was...

peniz.

thats kids gonna get abused at school

Also one of my old customers

Peteff - 15/5/07 at 12:17 PM

One of my mates is P.Nutt and one of my previous neighbours was P.Shooter. We also had Celia and Bernard Link, clink and blink and I used to work with Clive Wint whose full initials made him S.C.Wint, squint for short. Some names just can't avoid being a target I think so they may as well make the most of it

DavidM - 15/5/07 at 12:18 PM

We have a garage close by which used to be R. Soul and I deal with a firm at Daventry called Licharz.

donut - 15/5/07 at 12:59 PM

The Pa-in-law had/has a kid in his school called Lee King-Sellars and has a chum called Harry Bull who also has a brother called Terry.

Tralfaz - 15/5/07 at 03:27 PM

While a bit off the topic..... A mate told me of an aquaintance of his, who's wife had a set of vanity tags (number plates) made up after their move to a new city and new life..

Her plan for "A New Start" resulted in........

ANUSTART

or "Anus Tart"

David Jenkins - 15/5/07 at 03:43 PM

I used to work with a bloke called Michael Hunt...

... lucky his name wasn't Isaac, I suppose.

Coming back to place names, I nearly drove off the road when driving through Bavaria, when I saw a sign for the village of Wank. I presume it's pronounced 'Vank' - but I wonder what you call someone from that village?
(If you don't believe me, try this link for a Google Map! )

On a slightly related note, our work is absolutely useless at thinking through abbreviations. We have Picsolve Asia-Pacific (PAP), Picsolve US (PUS), my region is Southern UK (SUK), and most appropriately my line managers title is Business Unit Manager, or BUM

NS Dev - 16/5/07 at 08:36 PM

LOL love the signoff on your posts now Martyn!!!

DIY Si - 16/5/07 at 08:36 PM

flak monkey - 16/5/07 at 08:46 PM

Hey with my surname, everyone assumes I am some orange antiques expert...people dont seem to notice the difference of spelling. Does get a bit old after the 100th time though.

bob - 16/5/07 at 10:04 PM

Cheap as chips david

My surname has its moments, none funnier than when my brother was born and my mother fancied calling him richard

marcyboy - 18/5/07 at 07:33 AM

which would of been quite... apt
