Knackered bosch driver battery charger, repair?
Good afternoon chaps
My bosch driver battery charger decided to give up today and as it's something I can be using on a daily basis I thought, could I carry out a
repair job. Unfortunately my electronic skills are pretty pants, so this is hopefully where you guys come in! Attached are a couple of pics and
I've circled what I believe to be the culprit/culprits purely because of the burn mark on the rear which coincides with said culprits.
First question I suppose is, is the repair really worth the hassle? I suppose this all depends on if I can be arsed, at the moment as cashflow at work
isn't brill I suppose I can be arsed.
Second question, does anyone know what the culprits are and are they likely to be readily available?

Fuse is pretty much all I can see, no burnt tracks.
Have a good look for dry joints and touch up with a soldering iron, after that not worth expending any more time IMHO

Isn't there a burn mark near the big blue ceramic capacitors?

There is.
Something definitely went pop when I went to push the battery in.

What model is it? How many bolts drill is it? A pic or something?

AL 1115CV
3.6V-10.8V - 1.5A
Driver is:
GSR 10.8-LI Professional

Probably should of done this before, but I've just done a search I can buy a new one for £20 so is it really worth me dicking about trying to
repair it?

Oh poo.i had a spare al60. Just searched too.thats cheap.
But a new one and then fix the old en.

Done, ordered a new one. At that price its not worth the hassle.
Would be still interested to know what the blue things are though as if poss I'll still repair it.

Only burn mark i xan see would correspond to the blue devicr immediately below the transformer in the top pic.
That appears to be a capacitor.
If you can read what is printed on it.then thatll help.
Withoyt a circuit diagram, ot would be a bit hit and misstrying to figure what went pop, i.e. dont expect it is simpke fix, one of the semiconductor
devices may be damaged.

Screwfix were doing this charger with a drill and a 2ah battery for 65 quid. Bargain! I've got one of those spare in the garage now for when
mine pops!
Awesome drills.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.
