OT - lawnmower ?

Can anyone recommend me a lawnmower for my tiny back garden

I'm after something that will do a decent enough job without being so underpowered that it dies if I don't cut the grass often enough, but also something fairly cheap so that it doesn't eat into the car budget....

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers
-Robert

I bought a second hand Bosch Rotak 37 off an old chap for £30 on gumtree.... Seems to do the job admirably!

I got a second hand petrol mower off ebay for 40 quid. It's lasted about 7 years so far. Can't go wrong for the money.

Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

SWMBO bought this (from a certain orange logo'd retailer) for the 'garden' of our shoebox:

Mac Allister 1300W Rotary Lawnmower

It has survived so far, which in her hands is pretty good going...!

I have forgotten what it's like to have a manageable lawn! I have a massey 35 tractor and 5ft cutting deck, takes me 6 hrs twice a week in the summer!

Anything with a Briggs ,& Stratton or Honda engine.
Don't cut the grass too short

I have a bosch one as well. I brought it because it folds up really small and has adjustable cutting height. Something that was a must for new lawn like mine.

And there is your problem. Too much time on your hands, 6 hours twice a week! !

Pave over it and go drifting. . .

Having driven 35x's and 4600's doing the same job in the past I think you need a better grass cutting tool....

the best ones for that area of grass are fully automatic, self fueling and have 4 legs for any bits wheeled vehicles can't get to...

they are also tasty when you no longer need them in winter and kind of wooly too

We have some crappy old briggs and stratton 4 stroke thing, I only feed it dregs of fresh oil from when I've changed oil on cars, and occasionally sharpen the blade (by removing the plug lead, turning it upside down and attacking it with the grinder for 2 minutes)

It works just fine all the time, started 2nd pull after sitting with fuel in over winter.

Saying that, i did spend half of last summer starting it using half a 1/2" extension bar, a socket and the drill, because the cord broke.

Will have to retire it soon, replacing our half acre garden with 7 acres of regret.
