Hullavington Sprint - 20th March
lsdweb - 13/3/16 at 01:07 PM

Hi All

Is anybody in here doing the sprint at Hullavington next Sunday?

It'll be first event in almost five years . I'll be running in a road rally spec Clio Cup and will probably be the only road rally car there which means they'll probably lump me in with the rally cars, which they have already merged with the single seaters and supersports cars! I hope they leave a long gap between me and the car behind!

Regards

Wyn

Where exactly is it?

It's in Wiltshire near castle Combe .

I had a quick google. Bit far for me really!

A lot of people are at Rockingham on the Sunday. I was going to do Combe on the Saturday and Rockingham on Sunday but the car is still in a million pieces so it will be well into April before I'm out and about.

Good luck at Hullvington and get some video so I can see what it looks like

It's a bit far for me too! But it's the first round of the Welsh Championship and I've never been ready for the first round! I'm not sure I'm ready this year actually - full new weld in cage messed me up - I was only planning on fitting a bolt in front and giving the car a polish! Description

I will video it Jeff but it will look like slow motion :-) Also, it may be the last ever event there as it appears the MOD have sold the site for housing. It's a bit of a 'lost' event for me as it's my first time there so I'll have to learn the track and then never go back!

Regards

Wyn

Are spectators welcome? I could do with a day not working on the car!

Unfortunately no. It's an MOD site so no spectators.

Myself and a couple of mates done it last year. Very good event. Very well organised and the day ran very smoothly.

The course was good as was the surface. A mix of fast and slow stuff. A hairpin or two, some sweeping bends and a fast straight at the end with a 'how late can I brake' 90 left at the end into a flying finish.

We had a convoy run, two timed practices and four timed runs to count.

I think they are changing the pits layout this year to bunch it up and make for a better flow.

We are not competing this year sadly as our local car club has an event the same day and we'll be busy organising that.

It is indeed also the last time the site can be used as the MOD has sold it off for development. :-(

Good luck to all those taking part.

That's a shame. Good luck anyway! I'll have to find something else to have a nosey at this weekend.

It was a hoot. I was off the pace and managed to take out more cones than anybody else! I struggled with the high speed stuff as I didn't have the confidence in the car (although it felt really agile) . The car didn't miss a beat :-)
